Knot:          An intertwined loop of rope is used to fasten two ropes to each other. Hitch:          A hitch is a knot that attaches a rope to any object. Bight:          Any curved section between the ends of the rope. Loop:          A bight becomes a loop when the ends of the rope are crossed.
