Rope Rescue:
Rescue in high-angle and steep slope environments where the use of rope and related equipment is necessary. Rope rescue may also be called vertical rescue or in some cases Technical rope rescue.
The techniques related to the extraction of the victim from a High or Low angle using a rope and other associated gear so that the victim can be moved from the hazard, kept stabilized and safe, and protected from falling.
Equipment Used in Rope Rescue Techniques:
1. Static Rope
Capacity: 6000 lbs
Description: A type of rope designed to be used in applications such as rescue rappelling and ascending in which high or moderate stretch would be a disadvantage and in which no falls or only shortfalls are expected before the climber is caught by the rope. 2% to 3% felicity
2. D-Ring
Capacity: 25-35 KN
Description: Load-bearing metal connectors with a self-closing gate link the elements of the high-angle system.
Also called Biners, SAnap link, or Krobs
3. Figure Of Eight
Capacity: 25-36 KN KN=Killo Newton
Description: A device used for rappelling and in some cases for lowering. The descender has the general shape of the numeral 8 with a large ring to create friction on the rope and a smaller ring to attach to a seat harness.
4. Rope Roller
Description: Use on the edges or sharp areas for the protection of rope. The rope slides onto it.
5. Full Body Harness
Description: A type of harness that offers pelvic and upper body support as one unit.
6. Ascender
Capacity: 150 Kg
Description: Rope Grab devices are used to ascend a fixed rope or with specific types of ascenders to create a hauling system. Also known as Ascending Device
7. Single Pulley
Capacity: 15-20 KN
Description: A device with a free-turning, grooved metal wheel used to reduce rope friction. It also has side plates to which a carabiner may be attached.
8. Double Pulley
Capacity: 35-40 KN
Description: as same as above mentioned on the single pulley.
9. Basket Stretcher
Capacity: 150 Kg
Description: A litter with a rigid structure that is shaped to hold a rescue subject. It is constructed of rugged materials to protect the subject and resist damage when used in the rescue environment.
10. Ladder
Capacity: 150-200 Kg
Description: The Ladders are used to evacuate a victim from height to any depth or reverse of it.
